    Although Staff Sgt. Tejeda, a native of the Dominican Republic died as a legal permanent resident of the United States, he was granted posthumous citizenship the year after his death.

Sgt. Maj. Michael B. Stack had a reputation for attention to detail, earning the nickname "No Slack Billy Jack Stack" in the early years of his service. "He led with a sense of humor, but there was no doubt in anyone's mind that he meant business," said Col. Hector Pagan. The 48-year-old Green Beret from Lake City, S.C., was killed April 11 by hostile fire south of Baghdad.

Also killed were: Cpl. Joseph A. Blanco and Pfc. James F. Costello III.
