Army Pvt. 2 Matthew D. Bush,


20, of East Alton, Ill.; assigned to F Troop, 1st Squadron, 10th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 8 in Camp Caldwell, Iraq. A fellow soldier tried to wake Bush and noticed he was not breathing.

Army Pfc. Brandon Ramsey,


21, of Calumet City, Ill.; assigned to the 933rd Military Police Company, Army National Guard, Chicago; killed in a vehicle accident Aug. 8 in Tallil, Iraq. Ramsey was part of a convoy escort mission when the vehicle in which he was riding rolled over during the chase of a suspicious vehicle.

30, of Davie, Fla.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; attached to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Aug. 8 by enemy small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

29, of Queens, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, New York City; died Aug. 8 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Aug. 7, when his Humvee was struck by two improvised explosive devices and he received small-arms fire. Also killed was Spc. Anthony N. Kalladeen.

26, of Purchase, N.Y.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, New York City; died Aug. 8 in Baghdad of injuries sustained Aug. 7, when his Humvee was struck by two improvised explosive devices and he received small-arms fire. Also killed was Pfc. Hernando Rios.

25, of Trinity Center, Calif.; he was declared Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown on Aug. 8 when his UH-60 Black Hawk crashed into a lake in the vicinity of Korean Village in Rutbah, Iraq; his remains were recovered Aug. 10. Also killed was Sgt. Steven P. Mennemeyer; his remains were recovered Aug. 9.
