Fallen Heroes September 2


September 2, 2003


Army Pfc. Christopher A. Sisson,


20, of Oak Park, Ill.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 325th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Sept. 2 in Baghdad, Iraq. Sisson was in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter participating in an air assault mission. The helicopter flipped and crashed on take off.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Lonnie J. Parson,


39, of Bay Minette, Ala.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Sept. 2 when his M3A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle was struck by an enemy explosive device in Baghdad.

Army Staff Sgt. Eugene H.E. Alex,


32, of Bay City, Mich.; assigned to 4th Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; died Sept. 2 in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries sustained Aug. 30 when he encountered enemy forces using small-arms fire in Baghdad.

Army Sgt. Ralph N. Porras,


36, of Merrill, Mich.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; died Sept. 2 of injuries sustained from mortar fire during dismounted combat operations in Yusifiyah, Iraq. Also killed was Pfc. Justin W. Dreese.
